Law firm in City of Manila, Philippines
Manila is the country's oldest commercial city and still its trading heart. Binondo and Divisoria run on importation, wholesale distribution, and credit extended on relationships rather than paper — which is precisely why collection suits, checks that bounce, and supplier disputes are so common here. The Port Area adds customs, shipping, and warehousing questions on top.
Manila is also the seat of much of the national legal system and of a large concentration of schools, hospitals, and government offices. Cases filed here can carry more procedural weight, and the volume in Manila's courts rewards preparation over improvisation.

Frequently asked questions
A customer issued a check that bounced. What can we do?
Two tracks run in parallel: a criminal complaint for the bouncing check or estafa filed with the City Prosecutor, and a civil collection case. The criminal route often produces payment faster; the civil route secures the judgment. We advise which to lead with based on the amount and the debtor's assets.
Can you help collect on unpaid deliveries in Divisoria or Binondo?
Yes. Much of this trade runs on informal documentation, so the first step is assembling what does exist — delivery receipts, chat records, statements of account, partial payments — into something a court will accept as proof of the obligation.
How long does a collection case take in Manila?
It varies with the amount and the court's docket. Small claims are decided quickly and without lawyers appearing; ordinary collection cases before the Metropolitan or Regional Trial Court take considerably longer. We give a realistic range once we see the amount and the documents.
Do you handle importation and customs disputes?
We advise on the commercial and contractual side of import and distribution arrangements and on disputes arising from them, and we work with customs specialists on assessment and seizure proceedings where that is required.
We are a Manila family business with a succession problem. Can you help?
Yes. Estate settlement, transfer of shares and real property, and the corporate restructuring that usually needs to happen alongside are all handled by the same team.
